We have been using this appliance for about 3 weeks and are delighted with it. Very well constructed ‘toaster’ oven that has most of the features of a full-size oven and is very intuitive in its operation. Larger than the usual toaster oven it is far more versatile, can readily toast 6 slices at a time and due to its convection feature tends to complete most ‘jobs’ more rapidly than other toaster ovens. It is relatively pricey (9.00)but is so substantial that it is likely to last a long time! We will probably order 2 more for our other homes.

I have no regular oven in my apartment so I did a lot of reading before I bought the Breville. This is also why I was willing to fork out the big bucks for a toaster oven. It is everything I could expect. It is very easy to use. The instruction booklet has a variety of recipes in it so you can get a feel for the differences that the smaller size and convection make for cooking. Toast comes out perfect. Cookies come out lightly browned. Potatoes bake up just fine. I haven’t cooked a roast yet. I’ll update my review when I do.

Toasting good, but slow. Oven fine for lightweight items. heavy loads put a strain on the low powered heating elements.

I grew up with toaster ovens that were just big enough for a small pan, but not big enough for the pans that we had, so we fashioned pans out of aluminum foil. The top and bottom elements were not balanced and very close together, so the oven had hot spots. They were a great idea, but not very practical.

Not this one.

The toaster oven comes with a 13″ round pizza pan and 12″ square pan. Our 8 and 9″ baking pans fit well. These were the first features that caught our eye.

When we got to a store to touch one, it was amazing. None of the flimsy doors that we were used to. This door is secure on its hinges, and the door frame is rigid. We opened and closed it repeatedly, with delight.

We read that we would need a dedicated 20-amp electrical circuit for this appliance. We planned to add one to our kitchen annex, but when we found one that was conveniently located in the middle of the kitchen (where we used to have our fridge), we used that instead and did the necessary rearranging. We will replace the 15-amp receptacle with a 20-amp one for safety.

When we brought it home to try it out, how nice to see the elements glowing at variable powers so the food came out evenly cooked. How nice that it pre-heats so quickly because of the high wattage! As for clean-up, the wire rack slides out and wipes off easily. So does the crumb-catcher tray in the bottom! The pans that are included wipe off easily with a soapy sponge, too! We have had no need to expose them to the harsh dishwasher.

We easily fit a large tortilla or 4 large bagel halves. I read the manual before using it because I was intimidated by the dials, but I found that using the dials was very easy to figure out without the instruction manual. At first, I often forgot to turn the oven on after setting the dials, but I quickly got in the necessary habit.

Fast pre-heating is a great feature. We get impatient waiting for the full-sized oven to pre-heat. We also noticed that the oven stays relatively cool on the outside during use. Even when I put a serving plate on top, it doesn’t get very hot. I feel like we’re saving a lot of money on electricity by using this instead of the toasters and full-sized oven.

The convection feature is controlled by a switch. We leave it on because we got used to it with our full-sized oven and like it.

So, this is one more review to increase your confidence as you consider whether this oven is really worth its price. We have no regrets.

I read all the reviews and bought this a few weeks ago. The toaster oven indeed lives up to the hype. It’s lovely! Food cooks fast – have tried it with garlic bread and baking brownies. Fast and even cooking/baking. It’s beautiful too – looks great in my small condo kitchen (matches stainless steel appliances perfectly). The size is not too big. I haven’t had to turn on my large oven since I bought this. I’m looking forward to a long time of use. Good results and good purchase.

In the first month of usage my wife really likes this small oven. You do have to get to know it though. For instance, the first time we used it was on three frozen pizzas. The 12″ pizza was put in and we used the presets. It came out overdone. The second one was a different type of pizza which came out burned. The third we changed the settings and it was slightly underdone. So while it is a great oven, it does take a little experimenting to get the best results for some things. For toast however, it comes out perfect!

Breville’s BOV800XL toaster over is everything they promised and maybe even more. It is well packaged with a minimum of wasted material but enough packing material to protect the product. Easy to follow instructions which actually tell the truth! And performance as promised. What else could anyone ask for. Pricey but well worth it!

We purchased this oven 2 months ago after having had several of the typical less expensive ones. So far this product does everything the company says it will. Toast is perfect every time. When the oven is warm from use and something else is put in to cook or toast it figures out how much less time the job will need because it doesn’t have to heat up from room temperature. The convection oven works beautifully – we’ve made cookies (need to vary time and temp from default settings) and made roasts, warmed up leftovers and we haven’t found a thing we don’t like. Another thing I particularly like is that you can warm plates on the top while food is inside – a real plus in the winter in our kitchen where the dishes come out of the cabinets cold. The quality of the construction is good, instructions for use are clear. We use it every day. It’s worth every panny.
