Hamilton Beach 2-Slice Toaster On Sale.

Bought this toaster at Target. Had to take the B&D model back to Wal-Mart because it was dead out of the box.

Like the styling of this toaster and so far it hasn’t disappointed me with its function…

My only beef so far (and I should have realized this before I bought it) is with the digital display. My wife and I are old school and unplug the toaster when it is not in use. (can’t start a fire if it isn’t plugged in) Anyway, the toaster has a default setting of 5 when its plugged in… maybe okay for bread, but we most often toast english muffins and they need a setting of 7 or 8, which means we have to change the setting every time we use the toaster.

DeLonghi CTH2003B 2-Slice Metal Toaster On Sale.

I have celiac disease so I make my own pancakes, freeze them individually and then toast them in my 2 slice toaster. I disagree with the reviewer who said the slots don’t hold items securely. My pancakes are never the same size as they are handmade but I have no trouble removing them because the lift up mechanism brings them high up enough to remove. They are at most 2 to 3 inches in diameter in size so they are not large and they vary in thickness but again no problem to remove. I bless the cool side feature so you never burn yourself if you are in a hurry and not paying attention to what you are doing. I purchase in bulk home made gluten free rolls, sandwich bread, bagels and muffins from a talented wonderful woman who bakes exclusively for the celiac disease group and I have frozen everything and individually defrost and toast these items succesfully in this toaster with no problem. One caveat for this toaster. I would have given it five stars but it is difficult to clean the insides of the toaster from stuck on crumbs. I am NOT speaking of the pull-out crumb tray which is easy to manipulate and clean.

This toaster is beautiful but when taking the toast out you burn your fingers because it doesn’t come up high enough. The kids pop tarts fall through and the bottom doesn’t open so you have a very hard time getting them out. The side pieces don’t hold anything tight so the waffles come out bent in half and not done, same with the toast not standing up makes for uneven toasting. K

Dualit 2-Slice Toaster, Petal Pink On Sale.

I purchased the Dualit toaster about 12 months ago and am glad that I did.

I wanted a pink toaster to match my kitchen decor and I was sold on the Dualit idea because of its reputation for quality workmanship.

The toaster produces excellent toast. Though the clock ticking noise may be annoying for some people, I like it. The toast that is produced is crisp on the outside but still moist on the inside which is just the way my husband and I prefer our toast to be cooked.

I like the crumb tray feature; it makes for easy cleaning. I also purchased the sandwich case and I am very pleased with the quality of the toasted sandwiches.

Overall, the toaster is a little on the pricey side, but I think it’s worth every penny.

Great looking toaster, unfortunately I had the same uneven toasting problem that many other people mention. Then it stopped working about a year later. Really not worth it.

I have this toaster and while it looks nice on the counter it barely toasts bread enough at it’s highest setting. Bagels usually take two passes.

Perhaps I was expecting too much. I had a T-Fal toaster which was several years old and I had really liked it. When it got tempremental about toasting bread, I ordered another. The price was right, the color and the order came promptly.

The instructions were too brief. There was nothing telling what side to use if I just had one slice. It works OK though not toasting as evenly as the old one. The toast is OK even when I toast just one slice and I do like the crumb tray better than the old one.

Also, it is a bit wider and I don’t like the fact that it takes up more space than the old one. I would buy it again, knowing what I know now but there is very little,if any, improvvement over the old one. Perhaps the company thought they had reached the point of perfection and I don’t agree.

I wanted to replace our slice toaster with a toaster oven – as soon as this arrived i took it out of the box and tested it, only to find that the timer is SUPER loud and annoying, and once you set it, you can’t turn it off until it winds all the way down. You can turn off the toast/bake function, but it still goes ‘TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK…” until it winds down. Really annoying. I am returning it, but now I have to pay the return shipping. Ugh.

Dualit 2-Slice Toaster, Chrome On Sale.

I received a refurbished canary yellow Dualit as a house-warming gift.

Pros:
1. Fast heating – haven’t had a problem with it taking ages to heat up. For first time toasting in the mornings, I just set the timer to go a minute extra and the toast comes out just fine.
2. Myriad of really pretty colors – these toasters really ARE pretty.
3. There’s a little arrow on the the timer knob that I’ve found keeps toasts to a perfect level (between 2 – 3 minutes).
4. The little lever that helps the toast go up and down is pretty nifty and really works when you have things that are too big for the slots (see (5) and Cons (3) below).
5. Since there is no pop-up mechanism, the toast stays warm in the toaster until you use the nifty little lever to bring it up. As an avid fan of crisp Marmite soldiers, this is an awesome feature.

Cons:
1. Large countertop footprint. You can kill a buffalo with this.
2. Sometimes uneven toasting – I can’t figure out if the top gets darker first or the other way around. It’s a little aggravating but it doesn’t happen all the time.
3. The much touted “wide-slots” isn’t really that wide. A bagel can barely fit in there without any external help.

In conclusion, I would never actively pay 0 for a toaster like this, even if it’s heavy and looks really, really good, and is a British institution. It toasts well (most times), is easy to use and seems durable. But I guess the same can be said of those toasters you get at Walgreens.

DUALIT HAS POOR QUALITY ELECTRA-CRAFT HAS POOR SERVICE – P. R. Patel – Kentucky
I have bought three of these toasters. The first one lasted for about 6 years. The second had to be sent back three times for warranty work. The third one stopped working right after the warranty ran out 16 months. All three had the same problem. The dial switch went bad. Electra-Craft the National Distributors have the worst service possible. The fact that Dualit’s quality has gone down along with the only service company you can use knows you have to pay them and arm and leg for fixing simple problems I would recommend you stay away from these toasters. Considering the price you would expect more quality and service. But the Jersey boys of Electra-Craft don’t care enough. I don’t understand its hefty price for its subpar performance. It will literally burn one side of the toast while barely toasting the other side. Plus, as mentioned by other reviewers, I’ve never been able to successfully toast a half-bagel without it getting stuck AND heaven forbid you have a slightly taller-than-average piece of bread. This was a gift, and I felt terrible about the expense they paid in relation to the loathe I feel for this contraption.

We use my husband’s 6+ year old, Black & Decker toaster oven, and it’s perfect every time.
